THE RHYTHM OF THE BLACK SEA

In this scene, Black Sea folk culture is highlighted. Horon dance figures integrated with the rhythm of the waves, a kemençe (a type of stringed instrument) player, a fisherman's boat, and anchovies represent the life energy unique to the region. The figures are in direct interaction with nature; sea and people, music and fish, this is a narrative where movement and joy flow together. Humor and folklore intertwine on the panel.

THE SEAL OF HISTORY

In this scene, three important Ottoman sultans – Mehmed the Conqueror, Selim I, and Suleiman the Magnificent – are represented with their unique tughras (imperial monograms). The tughras are presented in an interwoven spiral structure; this arrangement symbolizes both the layered nature of time and the legacy that the Ottomans inherited and passed on. The colors used (cobalt blue, red, and light turquoise) allude to the characteristic periods of the sultans.
